Been meaning to post a couple of the live performances which have included the mindblowing vocals of Sunidhi Chauhan, Shankar Madhevan and the Wadali Brothers as well as many more. Taken from the albums Yatra and Kailaasa, Kailash Kher performed Dilruba + Piya Ghar Aavenge on the most recent episodes of Coke Studio @ MTV with the musical assistance of producer and composer, Lesle Lewis. Seeing a lot of YouTube comments flooded with the comparison between this Coke Studio and the one created by extraodinaire Rohail Hyatt in Pakistan. To be quite honest, the music will and should always come first regardless of people thinking its too commercial or it lacks a certain ‘sufiness’. Heck, even if we had anything remotely similar to this in the UK, I’d want to visit the recordings every week. I’m going to keep this simple, I think the opportunities should be taken advantage of and I reckon we should appreciate the form this beautiful music is being presented to us.
