Blast from the Past: DCS – Punjabi Dance Nation

DCS - Dil Phirbhi Punjabi
DCS - Laija Pyar Nishani
DCS - Choudmin Da Chandh
DCS - Glassy Teh Glassy
DCS - Laban De Uthe
DCS - DCS meets TDF

Released on Kamlee Records over twelve years ago, DCS released Punjabi Dance Nation after a three year long hiatus since Eat Rhythm was first placed on the shop shelves. Following the success of that album which included songs; Nashe Diye Bandh Bothle, Leke Kethan Val and Jana Mahi De Naal, DCS were punching themselves up as one of the best Bhangra bands to come out of the UK. Recorded at Jasmine Cafe in Birmingham, Shin and the rest of the DCS boys teamed up with lyricists including the late legend, Dev Raj Jassal (who also played tumbi on this album) to produce what is arguably one of the best albums I have in my record case. Parv Bharat headed the indian percussion to shine alongside Johnny Kalsi (TDF) on DCS meets TDF and Glassy Teh Glassy whilst Bhutta provided the excellent keys for gems like Laban De Uthe. Bringing elements from each of the ten member DCS band, Punjabi Dance Nation was a fusion of Bhangra with the UK sound in its finest form.
